Fighting Adult Skin Conditions: Is There Help for Your Acne?

Botulinum Toxin Injection Treatments Can Be Effective With These Six Types Of Wrinkles

by Art Bishop

Patients need to understand the possibilities of botulinum toxin injection treatment for fighting wrinkles before they get started.

Fortunately, these injections can be effective at minimizing the appearance of many different types of wrinkles. However, there are also some wrinkle types against which botulinum toxin injections may not be effective.

Botulinum toxin injections can be effective with the following six types of winkles.

Glabellar lines or "11" wrinkles

For many patients, glabellar lines or what's more familiarly known as "11" wrinkles are among the most troublesome wrinkles because this type of wrinkle tends to become apparent early in life and leads to deep wrinkles that develop through the years.

Fortunately, injections can be highly effective at minimizing the appearance of this type of wrinkle.

Wrinkles on the forehead

Forehead wrinkles are another common complaint of patients that injections can help to manage. Forehead wrinkles develop as an individual raises their eyebrows constantly through the years.

Injection treatment can smooth out these wrinkles and lead to impressive improvements in the appearance of the forehead in many cases.

Lipstick line wrinkles

Lipstick line wrinkles are wrinkles that appear all around the upper lip from activities such as puckering the lips and smoking. Lipstick line wrinkles are vertical wrinkles and can develop due to hereditary factors. This type of wrinkle is also sometimes referred to as perioral wrinkles.

Botulinum injections can help to reduce the appearance of lipstick line wrinkles.

Wrinkles on the bridge of the nose

Some patients have prominent wrinkles that are located horizontally across the bridge of the nose. These wrinkles are often referred to as "bunny" line wrinkles. Injections can make any existing wrinkles on the bridge of the nose significantly less deep and apparent.

Wrinkles on the outer sides of the eyes

Horizontal wrinkles can develop along the outer sides of the eyes through the years as a patient smiles. These wrinkles are commonly referred to as "crow's-feet" wrinkles.

This type of wrinkle is very common, but these wrinkles tend to be less deep than other types of wrinkles such as glabellar line wrinkles and forehead wrinkles. However, patients with deep crow's-feet winkles may notice significant improvements after botulinum toxin injection treatment.

"Marionette" line wrinkles

Marionette line wrinkles are the wrinkles that originate on either side of the nose and extend downwards to the ends of the mouth. When this type of wrinkle is treated, dermal filler treatment may also be recommended in addition to botulinum toxin injections.
